At St Joseph's we recognise that the pastoral care of our children is one of our most important roles. We educate the children through PSHE lessons - personal, social, health education but we are constantly supporting them to develop socially and emotionally.
We realise that at different times, different children may need a little bit more support to help them socially or emotionally. This is why we have trained staff who run different pastoral groups, these may be run in small groups or 1:1. Some of the sessions we currently run are 'Time to Talk', 'Rainbows' 'Sensory time', 'Funfit', 'Sherborne movement', 'Anger management', 'Sunbeams', 'Memory Magic' and 'Auditory Processing'.
Our trained staff also run a lunchtime club every day. This can be accessed by any of the children any day and they can join the member of staff and other children to chat whilst playing games such as lego, colouring etc. The children can choose to join the club for any reason, it could be that they just want a bit of quiet time, they want someone to talk to, or just because it's too chilly outside!
Rainbows fosters emotional healing among children, young people and adults who are grieving a loss through a death, divorce, separation or any other painful transition in their lives.

Rainbows provides a safe setting in school in which children and young people can talk through their feelings with their peers who are experiencing similar situations. They are helped to articulate their feelings by a trained facilitator.
