Spring Term 2 - ROAR!
Please take a look at what we will be learning about in Rowan class this term!
This week we have introduced the children to multiplication. We have been looking at how if we repeatedly add a number this is the same as multiplying. We have used numicon and peg boards to make arrays to show our understanding.
World Book Day!
The children all made a fantastic effort to come to school dressed up as their favourite book character. They enjoyed lots of story related activities including taking part in a drama activity with year 5. We also created a story jigsaw as a class. As each child added a piece they added to our made up story!
This week we began our topic learning by talking about what we would like to find out. We asked questions such as 'How did the Dinosaurs die?' We then talked about how archaeologists look for clues about the past to help us find the answers to our questions. We looked at fossils and how they have helped us learn about Prehistoric times. We then made our own fossils out of salt dough.
This week we have been revisiting our learning about Place Value and what each digit is worth in a number. We learned how to partition 2 and 3 digit numbers into hundreds, tens and ones. We then had a go at representing our understanding using dienes, coins and numicon.
