Spring Term 2023

Happy New Year!

Welcome to the Spring Term of 2023

The children have already settled back into the routine of the school day after the holidays. We are very proud of how they come in everyday with such positive learning attitudes.

This term we welcome new children and their families into both Oak and Acorn class. We hope you will settle in quickly and soon feel part of our Foundation Stage at St Joseph’s.

Chinese New Year
Gung hey fat Choi - Happy Chinese New Year. In Foundation the children have been celebrating Chinese New Year. They have learnt some facts,
tasted Chinese food, sent cards and made dragon masks and drums.
Travelling in P.E.
We started with a warm up on the screen. Then we used a dice that has 6 different animals on it. We rolled the dice and then travelled in those different ways.
Good control and coordination was observed.
Happy Pancake Day! On Shrove Tuesday we learnt about pancake traditions around the world, we made pancakes and had pancake races. But the best bit had to be putting our toppings on and eating the pancakes!
Culture Awareness Day
We enjoyed learning all about Italy as part of our culture day.  Leo's Dad showed us pictures of some Italian traditional foods. He also taught us some words in Italian - please, thank you and hello. Finally he told us all about the olive trees and how they make Olive oil. We were then lucky to be able to dip some bread in the olive oil and see how it tasted. A big thank you to Leo and his Dad for teaching us all about Italy!
